At The Sandman, we are always looking for new and innovative products and ways to be sustainable. As well as being one of the few installers who will consider fitting a reclaimed parquet floor, we have sourced what we think is the best sheep's wool insulation. We have installed this in many new flooring projects but also retro fitted under existing boards which we then renovated.
This picture is from a project in November 2022, when we took out original boards (look closely and you'll see we numbered them all to make sure they went back in the right order!) then performed a full sand and seal to restore them to former glory along with sustainable heat and noise insulation.

We are often called into homes after floods, leaks or where new screed or concrete has been laid "ready" for a new floor.
We will always talk to our customers about the readiness of the room to receive a new wooden floor. The long term drawbacks of laying a wooden floor on a damp base is simply not worth it.

We will always talk to our customers about the readiness of the room to receive a new wooden floor. The long term drawbacks of laying a wooden floor on a damp base is simply not worth it.
In August 2023, we wanted to be absolutely sure this screed was ready, as it had been laid very thickly. After several damp meter tests, over a period of time, we performed a Carbide Bomb test, with the help of a specialist company we called in, to assure ourselves it was dry enough. We will never knowingly install a floor if the conditions aren't right. They were! and the customers were happy with the results!

Back in September 2022, we were part of a project team at this Grade I listed church in Ault Hucknall, last restored in 1885. We carefully number all of the blocks so that when they went back in, later in the renovation, we could be sure they were where they had been for many years and could restore them with the care and attention they deserved. In August 2023 we were honoured to be nominated in the Commercial & Design category of the prestigious industry V4 Cube Awards for one of our biggest jobs of the year.
We laid a herringbone floor seamlessly through a large, light filled house, for designers APSS. We were so pleased with the result, it was great to see it recognised with a nomination.
